Read The Controversial Permian Basin Survey That Is Raising Eyebrows

We don’t normally republish articles from third party sources in full. But an in depth survey on the state of the Permian released at the end of last year is making the rounds this week. And if you haven’t seen it yet, it is definitely worth taking a look.

Runaway acreage valuations in the Permian is an old story. We and many others have covered the phenomena for months now. But some of the comments emanating from the industry captured by the survey are so bold that they are worth noting. The survey results below provide a good insider sense of how the industry itself feels about the great Permian Migration.

Data were collected Dec. 14–22, and 147 energy firms responded to the survey. Of the respondents, 67 were E&P firms and 80 were oilfield services firms.

The extent and nature of the opinions serves to underscore the industry’s laser-like focus on the basin. The response also shows how controversial the Permian Basin has become as opinions vary widely and emotions are running high.
