At the 2018 Davos gathering this month, Blockchain was all the rage among business elites. Multi-national CEOs praised the record keeping concept for its streamlining advantages, cost cutting potential, and various applications in global supply chains.

Will it make a difference in the oilfield, which tends to be a late adopter of outside technologies, or is it just another fanciful fad?
