After 100 Years Of Sand Ranching, We’ve Learned A Few Things About These West Texas Dunes [Guest Post]

Historically, the sand dune fields in Winkler County Texas have primarily been used for cattle ranching. In the span of 9 months, 14 massive sand mines have been permitted in these ranchers’ backyards. Winkler ranches don’t change hands often – most have been in the same families for generations.

So what do the locals think of this Permian sand mine rush? We invited one of the area ranchers to weigh in and share his views about all the frac sand hoopla that’s going on around him these days.

This guest contribution is exactly the kind of outside-the-box thinking we had in mind for our “Friday Guest Post Series.” It is through perspectives like his that we can all gain deeper understanding of the environments we operate in. We absolutely loved reading this. We hope you will too.
