Permian Preview: 2017 Capex And Production

The biggest regional contributor to the US Shale Revolt will be the Permian Basin. The Permian is the only unconventional oil play where production has not fallen in the downturn. In fact, Permian production today is up 13% since that fateful OPEC meeting two years ago.

Following it’s conventional production sunset, the rise of Permian tight oil plays is perhaps the biggest single global oil “find” since the Ghawar discovery in 1948. If Permian unconventionals can continue growing at $45 oil (and we think they can), then the basin may just prove to be America’s own mini-Saudi Arabia.

We provide an update and outlook on the play here including a capex forecast, key drivers of growth, expectations for future production, and a rig count outlook.
